Sailing Season 2018/19 presentations were held on Friday 17th May at the CBYC, with a great turn out of sailors eagerly awaiting the results/rewards. We had a good mixture of the junior sailors who have been participating in the “Learn to Sail” program and the senior sailors of whom race in the afternoons.
All the junior participants that were involved in the sail training program received an award for their participation being a beach towel and a medallion. These awards were made available due to the sponsorship from Shane Woods of Eyre Refrigeration and Electrical of which the club and juniors greatly appreciated.
The senior trophy presentation then started with all boats/crew receiving an award. The standout winners were Maddy & Rusty Lowe in the Heron Class and Peter & Deanna Henderson in the 125 Class.
The Sailing Supporter of the year was awarded to Rusty Lowe for his efforts of helping with the junior program and getting two herons on the water most weekends.
The coveted award Sailor of the Year went to Tim Ashman who traveled and participated in the 125 National Titles at the Humpybong Yacht Club in Queensland. He represented the Club in a great manner and sportsmanship while away at the Nationals and had a result of ninth overall at the end of the regatta. Tim also volunteers with running the junior sail training program every Sunday morning during sailing season and also is a valued committee member of the CBYC.
All of this is not possible without thanking the many sponsors, volunteers, helpers, Mums and Dads that put a great effort every weekend throughout the sailing season.
